Artist Statement

When you were a child did you have a dream? Did you want to be a princess, or an astronaut, or a cowboy? My dream was to be a neurosurgeon. It wasn't always to be an artist. I'll be the first to admit that. However, art has always been in my life. My dad is an artist, and I've always been prone to drawing and sketching out my ideas. I've always been the creative one out of my sister and I.

My art work portrays more than what meets the eye. There's usually passion or anger behind each piece. It may not look like there was an extraordinary meaning behind some of them, but there is. I tried something new because the guy I fell in love with showed me how. As a result of that I did it. I'm proud of it, and I'm even able to sell some of my art work.

Art to me is an escape in more than one way. It lets me express my feelings and who I am, but I'm also able to escape my home town with it. I will be able to go far in life because I am developing my skills in art. I'll admit I'm not the best, far from it. However, I have a passion and it's taking me somewhere.
